Blog Update 7/22/22

It’s hard to believe that we’re at the end of July. As we turn towards August, I’ve some news to share.

My New Job

The writing craft isn’t great for making money—unless you’re the next Stephen King or Brandon Sanderson. But after six years in retail, I’ve finally achieved full-time! This comes with excellent benefits, wage increases, and other perks.

The bad news? I won’t have as much time to devote to writing tasks. Expect blog posts to slow down. A lot. I’ll spend the majority of my creative time on Blade of Dragons and my newsletter.

Realm Makers Conference

This week, I’ll be tied up with an online writing conference spanning four days. Realm Makers is a Christian Writers’ Group with great resources and a community for new and aspiring writers.

I’ll take extensive notes, which I intend to share with my newsletter fans. Join from the link below if you’re interested! 🙂

Blade of Dragons

Progress with Blade of Dragons has been slow and steady, with the story making noticeable progress. The protagonists have stronger story arcs now, and the plot reads smoother.

Thanks to my editor, I’ve simplified a lot, while killing many useless darlings. These darlings are saved in a separate document, which I’ll release in my newsletter as a free ebook; a prologue to the main story.

Health and Healing

I’m relieved that I’ve made progress on healing my body this year—moreso than on previous years. I feel lighter, with more energy and intellectual ability.

I’ve put fasting on hold focusing on bulking to build my body up. There, too, progress has been noticeable—albeit slow and steady. The path of a naturopath is wrought with many pitfalls. I’ve acquired some new supplements and lifestyle changes, which have improved my creative writing ability. Many of these include staples like magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D.

Reads

I’ve consumed several books this year, a mixture of fiction with non-fiction. The rotations of fantasy and sci-fi with naturopathic health is refreshing, giving my mind ample material. I’ve dipped into biohacking books—anything to enhance my ability to tell stories and live happily. You can view my reads on Goodreads for more details.

I’ve also signed up to be an ARC reader for fellow blogger Rebecca Alasdair. The story is a YA romance, which I’m curious to read through. She’s been a valuable beta in the past—not to mention an outstanding writer—and I’m hoping we can maintain our relationship in the writing community.

Branding Update!

My logo for Ed R White/Ethereal Seals/Energyflux2012 has gotten an overhaul.

I’m pleased with the result. With my full-time job—my increase in money and decrease in free time—I may outsource other work for my blog/manuscript/newsletter and other tasks. Either way, the rest of 2022 going into 2023 will be a busy time for me. Cheers! 🙂

  1. I know for myself that starting a full-time job needed me to adjust my free time across all hobbies, writing included. I hope you find a way that works for you soner rather than later.
